MOVING BUSINESS FAMILIES FORWARD
Family Business Succession Planning
I work with business families across Canada as they plan for succession, leadership transition, ownership change, and family governance.
Legal, tax, financial, and estate planning may define the structure of a transition. But in a family business, the plan also depends on the conversations around leadership, authority, roles, values, and the next generation.
My work helps families have those conversations with enough clarity and trust to move the succession process forward.

When Succession Gets Stuck
Even when the technical planning has started, succession can slow down when the family has not yet worked through the conversations behind the plan. The issues are often practical, but they are also personal.
How the Work Moves Forward
When succession planning slows down, the next step is often a better conversation.

Facilitated Family Meetings
Structured conversations about leadership, ownership, roles, authority, values, and future direction.
Communication and Conflict Support
Support for moving difficult conversations out of avoidance, reactivity, or repeated patterns.
Governance and Family Council Work
Clearer forums for discussing expectations, policies, participation, and decision-making.
Next Generation Involvement
Conversations about readiness, responsibility, leadership development, and future roles.
This support may include tools such as SAVI, genograms, family meetings, or Family Council structures.
Experience With Both Sides of Succession
My work brings together more than 45 years of family systems experience, 35+ years in organizational consulting, and lived experience as a second-generation family business owner.
That background helps me understand both the business decisions involved in succession and the family relationships that shape how those decisions are carried forward.
Already working with advisors?
Many families begin succession planning with lawyers, accountants, financial planners, or estate planners. My work complements that expertise by helping address the communication and alignment issues that can slow the broader planning process.
